YouTube Video Summarizer
AI YouTube video summarizer: get an overview and timestamped key points from a public video's transcript, then export TXT or Markdown. Pay per summary.
This YouTube video summarizer reads the transcript of a public video and writes a short overview with the key points and their timestamps. Paste a link to load the captions for free, check the length, then generate the summary with AI credits. You can choose the summary language and export the result as TXT or Markdown, or copy it into your own notes.
How the YouTube video summarizer works
The tool first loads the caption track of the video, the same way the transcript downloader does, and shows how many characters it contains. Nothing is charged at that stage. When you start the summary, the timed transcript is sent to an AI language model with instructions to describe only what is said in the video. The result has an overview paragraph and a list of key points, each linked to the moment in the video where it is discussed.
What a summary costs
Summaries use 1 credit per 2,000 characters of transcript, rounded up, with a minimum of 1 credit. A ten-minute talk usually has between 8,000 and 12,000 characters, so it costs around 4 to 6 credits. The exact price is shown on the button before you start. If the AI request fails, the credits are returned automatically. Videos without captions need an AI transcript first, which is charged separately at 2 credits per minute.
Using AI summaries responsibly
A summary is a reading aid, not a replacement for the video. Language models can compress nuance, merge separate points or miss a caveat the speaker added later. Use the timestamps to check any point you plan to quote or act on. Summaries follow the transcript, so errors in automatic captions can carry over. For your own recorded meetings, the AI meeting note taker adds decisions and action items.
YouTube Video Summarizer: four steps
Paste the video link
Paste the link of a public YouTube video with captions. The transcript loads for free and its length is shown.
Check the price
The button shows the credit cost before anything is charged: 1 credit per 2,000 transcript characters, rounded up, minimum 1.
Pick a language and summarize
Choose the language of the summary, sign in if needed, and start. The overview and timestamped key points usually arrive within a minute.
Review and export
Open the timestamps to check important points against the video, then copy the summary or download TXT or Markdown.
Grounded in the transcript
The summary is written only from the video transcript, which is sent to an AI language model. Speakers may be paraphrased and nuance can be lost, so check quotes and figures with the timestamps. Failed requests are refunded automatically. Transcript loading shares the limit of 10 YouTube links per IP address per day.
